Charlie Flexon



Charlie Flexon studied graphic design at Virginia Commonwealth University under distinguished designers and typographers — Phil Meggs, David Colley, and Roy McKelvey — and graduated with honors in the winter of 2001. Prior to founding 78 studio in 2010, he worked in Washington DC at Gallagher & Associates, designing signage programs and exhibits. He has received design awards from the AIGA, and his work has been featured in a multitude of design publications. He currently serves as an environmental graphics, and identity design consultant with Russell Design and Perkins Eastman Architects.

Flexon is a multi-disciplined designer whose work encompasses strategic and thoughtful processes to create pure forms of communication. His projects have included the designing of corporate and brand identities, environments, websites, printed matter, packaging, and exhibits. He has designed work for clients including The Smithsonian Institution, National Institutes of Health, National Park Service, New York University, Forest City, Supreme Court of Ohio, Leva Energy, University of North Carolina, HOP Properties, Baylor University, YY Products, Pallas Textiles, The Austrian Trade Commission, Writers Guild of America, Ministries of Kuwait, Under Armour, Swiss Global Artistic Fund and The US State Department.

Flexon is the founder of record label North Sea and is currently working on the creation of weblog Graphia that documents minimalist, expressive and modernist design, art and architecture.

Chris King



Prior to establishing 78 studio, Chris also worked for Gallagher & Associates, a specialized exhibit design firm based in Washington, D.C. There, he developed graphic programs and effective communication tools for internationally recognized organizations including the Smithsonian Institution, Cleveland Museum of Art, Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, Gettysburg National Military Park Museum, and National Park Service.

Since his arrival to New York in 2007, Chris has worked on numerous projects including marketing materials promoting a Smithsonian exhibit on the National Mall and the Mesoamerican Reef Fund- a first-of-its-kind international environmental fund of four partner countries. Chris also worked on concept design for the Las Vegas-based Mob Museum.

Chris recently collaborated with Two-Twelve Associates, a New York based design firm, to develop a new signage program for Johns Hopkins Hospital. Chris also worked extensively with Christie's Fine Art Auction House to create and implement design exhibitions in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Moscow, Hong Kong, and New York.

Andy Lynne



Andy Lynne studied Communication Design at Virginia Commonwealth University where he met his 1978 partners Charlie Flexon and Chris King.

As a Senior Multi-Media Designer for Ukrop's, Andy's catalogue of work transcended design disciplines as he worked to develop identity and branding systems, websites and custom media presentations, short films, promotional materials, environmental graphics, packaging, and publication designs for the internationally acclaimed grocery chain. Additionally, Andy has provided design and consulting services to numerous clients including Sally Bell's Kitchen, Central Virginia Dance Academy, Lane's Recycling, and First Market Bank.

In 2007, Andy joined Pure Culture Consulting as a filmmaker – directing and designing films for a myriad of industries. In 2008, Andy directed and edited Restoration, a short that competed in 48 Hour Film Project. Andy's work was also showcased at Art 6 Gallery in Richmond, Virginia.
